Project Details: Files
Please reply to the form confirmation email with your STL files of each geometry of which you are looking to have quoted
Confirm the units of which the drawings are uploaded by describing overall size of part below
(Required)
Quantity of each geometry
(Required)
Confirm the Specific Material & Machine the parts are to be built in
(Required)
i.e.- Accura 25 on a iPro 8000, ABS M30 on a Fortus 450, Nylon 12 GF on an EOSINT P 760, VisiJet SL Flex on a Connex 3, etc.
Project Details: Purpose of Plating
Plating Types:
Structural Copper – Cu, Semibright Copper – SB Cu, Electrolytic Nickel – Ni, High Temperature Electroless Nickel – HTEN
****Special Note: Not all materials will be able to handle the temperatures experience in the Electroless Nickel baths. Please discuss this with RePliForm to make sure an appropriate material is being used****
For your project, do you know your requirements for the following?
(Required)
Please select all that apply:
Desired Plating Thickness
Desired Plating Material & Finish
I would like to Consult RePliForm, Inc.
Desired Plating Thickness
(Required)
Typical plating thickness is a total of .002” to .004” thick, usually half of electrolytic copper and then half of electrolytic nickel. This will be written by RePliForm to show the copper and nickel layers separately, so .002” of plating would be seen as .001” Cu + .001” Ni (structural). Please feel free to contact RePliForm with any questions about this.
Desired Plating Material
(Required)
***Electroless Nickel comes either Mid-Phosphorous (HTEN) or High Phosphorous (HPEN)*** RePliForm only does plate copper and nickel in house. Other materials may have and extended turnaround time
Copper Layer – Structural or Semibright Copper (Both Electrolytic)
Nickel Layer – Electrolytic or Electroless
Copper Desired Finish
(Required)
The desired finish can determine the necessary material to build the part. For example FDM and SLS material are NOT recommended if parts are needed to have a brushed or polished finish
SemiBright
This is a standard finish, no post-processing done. Any layer lines and imperfections must be removed before plating as they will show through in the plating process. Semibright copper finishes are typically done for electrical purposes and sometimes used to as a jumping off point for more precious metals such as gold and silver.
Polished Copper
Any part requiring post processing must be hand sanded to 600 grit before sending for plating. All layer lines and imperfections must be removed otherwise they will show through the plating and may not come out during the finish steps. This is typically a midway step before sending the part to get gold, silver, chrome and other precious metals. If polished copper is requested, it is recommended to lacquer this shortly after plating.
Bronze Patina
This finish is a patina on top of our semibright copper with a standard finish. Notice that layer lines and defects will still show through. This will give the part more of a formal finish great for busts and trophies!
Nickel Desired Finish
(Required)
The desired finish can determine the necessary material to build the part. For example FDM and SLS material are NOT recommended if parts are needed to have a brushed or polished finish
Structural
This is a standard finish, no post-processing done. Any layer lines and imperfections must be removed before plating as they will show through in the plating process.
Semibright
This is a standard finish, no post-processing done. Any layer lines and imperfections must be removed before plating as they will show through in the plating process.
Buffed
This is one of our quickest post process finishes. Notice that the prep process for this part was standard (left picture) and the buffed finish was done to brighten the parts (right picture). Layer lines and defects can still be seen after the finish, but the difference of the finish is definitely noticeable.
Brushed
Any part requiring post processing must be hand sanded to 600 grit before sending for plating. All layer lines and imperfections must be removed otherwise they will show through the plating and may not come out during the brushing step.
Polished
Any part requiring post processing must be hand sanded to 600 grit before sending for plating. All layer lines and imperfections must be removed otherwise they will show through the plating and may not come out during the polishing step.
Black Patina
This is done typically as a standard plating process. Notice it tends to work very well with highlighting of raised surfaces, lettering and logos. This finish will need a protectant layer of wax or clear coat, of which the wax can be done by RePliForm.
If these are not known, please describe what the plating is for on the parts and RePliForm will be happy to recommend something:
(Required)
I understand and have read the following:
(Required)
Fixturing
All parts must be held to racks during the plating process. This is typically done copper wire and running it through the natural holes in the geometry. If the part does not have natural through holes to hold the part by, they will need to be built into the CAD model and/or drilled into the part.
Through holes can typically be 0.02” to 0.03” in diameter and will need to go all the way through the wall of the part, in reachable areas.
Blind holes can typically be 0.06” diameter and will need to be 0.25” deep.
If parts have tight, deep areas which will need anodes to draw plating to those areas, RePliForm may ask for holes which can be tapped which can hold the anode fixture steady with the part.
All holes are recommended to be in areas where if the part can be held steady during the plating process. RePliForm will be happy to recommend locations if these are not known.
Specific Project & Part Notes
Masking drawings to show specifically where parts are requested to not have plating.
Finishing drawings to designate what surfaces are necessary for what finishes.
Drawings to mark areas critical for desired plating thickness.
Drawings marking any inserts, threaded areas, tight tolerance areas, etc… which may need bracing, masking or offsets.
***All inserts are recommended to be installed in the part before plating. Brass and Stainless Steel are the acceptable materials to use for inserts***
Payment
RePliForm does not keep payment information (i.e., credit card) on file unless asked to do so. Please confirm payment information for each estimate when you plan to start that project.
All new customers will be on terms of Credit Card or COD, until other terms have been established. To do this please contact RePliForm and ask about setting up terms. If you are a previous customer of RePliForm, but have not established terms, the Terms will be Credit Card or COD.
All payment will need to be confirmed before projects can be started. This can be in the form of:
Purchase Order
Calling in with Credit Card information
Confirming that the order is COD
Shipping – ESTIMATES DO NOT INCLUDE SHIPPING IN PART COST
RePliForm will need to confirm the shipment information for each estimate.
Preferred method for shipping parts back is for the customer to provide the preferred shipping account number and method of shipment for the specific order.
All Domestic (U.S.) shipments can be Prepaid and added to the invoice. This typically needs a Credit Card or to be added to the estimate as a separate line item, and then included in the associated Purchase Ordered.
All International (Non-U.S.) shipments must have a shipping account number to send back on. If this is not available, please contact RePliForm before starting the order confirm a viable shipping method.
If a project is to be paid for using a purchase order, the correct shipping address must be on the purchase order. If the address changes, please revised the purchase order to reflect the new shipping address. The shipping address on the PO will be the valid shipping address once the project is complete, and some projects can finish up later in the day. Please make sure the correct address is known as early as possible in the project to avoid any issues with this.
If any of this information is unavailable or unknown please, specify below:
or contact RePliForm at info@repliforminc.com or call 1-410-242-5110 for alternative methods of getting a quotation
